Coin3D Universal Binaries - Public Beta
=======================================

This is not an official Coin release but a public beta. If you are
interested in building Universal Binaries (or generally if you are a
Mac hacker, since MacIntel is here and it is here to stay), please
give this a spin and let us know how things work for you!

In this directory:

* Coin-2.4.5a.tar.gz, SoQt-1.3.1a.tar.gz

  Source packages of the latest Coin and SoQt, with the build system
  adapted to support building Universal Binaries:

  You can use these to build UBs by passing the --enable-universal
  flag to configure. So e.g. for a Universal Binary debug build of
  Coin, you would configure Coin as

        Coin-2.4.5a/configure --enable-debug --enable-universal

* Coin-2.4.5a.dmg, Coin-2.4.5a-no_inst.dmg

  Binary packages of Coin-2.4.5a for gcc-4 (Mac OS 10.3.9 or 10.4).
  As usual, we are providing a disk image of a regular installer
  (Coin-2.4.5a.dmg) and one containing only the framework itself
  (Coin-2.4.5a-no_inst.dmg). The content is, of course, the same and
  which one you use is purely a matter of taste.

* SoQt-1.3.1a.dmg, SoQt-1.3.1a-no_inst.dmg

  Binary packages of SoQt-1.3.1a for gcc-4 (Mac OS 10.3.9 or 10.4),
  again also in two packaging flavours. 

  ** These packages are dependent on the binary installation of Qt-4.1 **

  Note that this is also a first, and somewhat experimental. We used
  to not provide binary packages for SoQt due to the various and
  varying installation options of Qt. Since Trolltech now ships a
  binary installer of Qt/Mac, we decided to also provide binaries
  based on this for your convenience. 

* Sc21-1.1.0a.tar.gz, Sc21-1.1.0a.dmg,

  Source code archive and binary installer of Sc21 with Universal
  Binary support. 

  The source package requires Xcode 2.2. (Use Sc21.xcodeproj 
  instead of Sc21.xcode.) Universal Binaries are built by
  default, though on PowerPC you'll need to set the Development
  SDK root (see FAQ.txt).

  Note that the binary package reqires the Coin-2.4.5a package
  from this Public Beta. The upcoming Sc21-1.1.0 release will
  require Coin-2.4.

        IF YOU ARE BUILDING UBS ON THE POWERPC PLATFORM.
